Patriotic Program
The Bill of Rights - Our Guarantees of Freedom
The Patriotic Program is a completely voluntary program in which fourth and fifth graders at our school are invited and encouraged to participate. The purpose of the Patriotic Program is to instill in our children a basic knowledge of the birth of our democracy and freedom, the principles upon which they were founded, basic U.S. history, as well as a sense of patriotism and appreciation for the country in which we live and for which many have sacrificed lives and fortunes.
An assembly was held on December 16th that familiarized the fourth and fifth graders with the program and the Bill of Rights. Congratulations to the Freedom Fighters who won the trivia game!
The program officially begins on January 4th and runs until March 5th (the program has been extended until March 12th with afternoon recitations only). The children work to memorize various important facts, prose and documents that comprise the heart of America's founding principles, as well as a knowledge and appreciation of what patriotism truly means. Fourth graders have 7 requirements to meet, while fifth graders have 11.
Children who complete the program are Patriotic Program Superstars. Each SuperStar will be able to:
- Participate in a fun Awards Assembly with prizes.
- March or ride on the float to represent your school in the Kingsville 4th of July 2010 Parade.
- 5th Grade Patriotic Program Superstars get an All-Day Field Trip in May!
